Sophie Marfell
Managing Director & Chartered Financial Planner
Sophie is our founder, a highly qualified Chartered Financial Planner, Associate of the Personal Finance Society and Registered Life Planner, driven by making a positive difference to our clients' lives and being proud of the work we do for them. Aside from her technical expertise, clients say they choose to work with her because it's immediately apparent that she really cares. She makes money matters human and her detailed, thorough approach allows clients to trust in a more meaningful plan.
After 15 years experience in the advice profession, Sophie established Cleverly Planned in 2019 to ensure continuity of this level of care, where every client has the peace of mind that comes from having someone on their side who can link together evolving financial complexities with the evolving realities of life. She acts as a mentor to other women in the profession and has a particular interest in supporting the LGBT community.
Outside Cleverly Planned, you can find her at the front row of a gig, exploring a Greek island with her binoculars, sampling natural wines, or riding a heritage railway.

Lisa Powell
Client Service Manager
Lisa works closely with Sophie, keeping everything behind the scenes running smoothly, so we can continue to deliver a first class service. She keeps on top of all the elements that are often never seen by clients, but are crucial to ensure we remain current and compliant. Her work allows Sophie to spend the maximum amount of time on clients' plans and makes sure what we've said will happen happens.
As you’d expect, Lisa is also highly qualified and has over 18 years of industry experience during which time she has held a range of administration roles at Financial Planning and Investment Management firms. She holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, which is the professional benchmark qualification for financial advisers, as well as a Diploma in Investment Compliance. As the first point of contact for clients, she's always happy to help.
Away from Cleverly Planned Lisa keeps herself busy spending quality time with her family and socialising with friends. She loves travelling and exploring new places and is always on the look out for a new hobby to try. In recent years these have included golf, cake decorating and scuba diving!
